Detoxification or simple detox has been trending a lot lately. The natural health method has promised many great results such as fast weight loss, skin rejuvenation, and world peace! Kidding aside, detox gives the best results when done the best and the right way. And believe me, starving and daily lemon water only is definitely not the best way.

Daily detox generally benefits the liver by cleansing and reducing inflammation in the body especially the digestive tract.

Your liver, the second largest organ in the body, has the main job of filtering and neutralizing all the poisons accumulated. They come from many different sources such as pollution, processed food, and even stuff that you apply to your skin. When the liver is doing its job, you’ll get the best benefits of energy, hormone balance, great sleep, good moods and clear skin.

But when the liver is congested or overwhelmed with all the poisons it faces, you’ll show the symptoms of PMS, gaining weight, acne, pain in the joints, rashes on your skin, high cholesterol levels, depression/irritability, fatigue, and feelings of puffiness or inflammation.

An overworked liver can look at many culprits. Some of these are part of the modern 21st century lifestyle. Some examples are toxins from food, too much alcohol, over the counter and dangerous recreational drugs, birth control pills, cosmetic and body care products, and of course pollution. Imagine all of these are needed to be detoxed by your liver on a daily basis, excreted through sweat, digestive tracts and urine.

Those who don’t drink water regularly, don’t do “No.2” daily, and take in more junk and toxins via food, drink and pollution are in definite need of detoxification, especially if the symptoms of an “overwhelmed” liver are observed.
The best frequency to do detoxification is twice yearly. Do it during the spring or the spring and fall for a period of 14 to 21 days. Select from many interesting ways to do cleansing. Some are more effective or safer than others. Generally speaking, avoid inflammatory foods like gluten, dairy, soy, corn, eggs, sugar, alcohol and coffee. At the same time, taking a tincture or supplement with liver supportive herbs, such as milk thistle, will suffice.

For best results here are the 10 best ways for daily detox:

  1. After waking up in the morning, the first thing you need to do is drink hot water with squeezed lemon juice. Add a pinch of cayenne pepper. You’ll get a great cleansing and alkalizing underway.
  2. Before your morning shower do some dry skin brushing. This stimulates the lymphatic system.
  3. A great detox breakfast idea is a smoothie made from spirulina and chlorella, berries, chia seeds, and hemp protein. Load up on your veggie juices for the rest of the day. To add bits of zing, add beet chunks to your juices and smoothies.
  4. Always have cruciferous veggies added into at least one meal/day. These contain phytonutrients that assist your liver’s natural pathways for detox.
  5. Fermented foods, such as raw kraut with meals, give you probiotic enzymes to support digestion.
  6. Drink great herbal detox tea between meals.
  7. Get curry! Curry has turmeric powder which has anti-inflammatory properties. This also promoted your liver to produce glutathione; a natural antioxidant. Another good source of glutathione are avocadoes.
  8. Get a lot of fiber. Load up on fiber rich food that will help you move your bowels regularly. Constipation posed a potential danger since the toxins that cannot be “moved out” are reabsorbed by the body. Get your daily fiber from legumes (especially lentils), raspberries, root vegetables, apples, pears, avocados and almonds.
  9. Sweat it out ! Get exercise, get a sauna. Sweating releases many toxins from the body.
  10. Get regular Epsom Salt Baths. Best done right before your bedtime, the magnesium rich Epsom will help you sleep better and it will also help draw toxins out of the body. Prepare your bath with 2-4 cups of Epsom Salts and lavender oils for added aromatherapy.

Best detoxification for a cleaner and healthier you!
