Stress Symptoms May Be Your Early Signs of Cancer

Stress and cancer, in the perspective of many individuals, are two different clinical conditions; however, recent findings prove that stress plays a vital role in declaring and or aggravating cancer.  Stress symptoms vary in nature, but they are obvious enough for anyone under stress to notice. Dealing with stress symptoms or the cause of stress is essential in preventing it from causing detrimental damages to the body.

Although stress may seem to be a very simple health issue, it targets the immune system, causing it to weaken and become less able to protect the body against pathogens. Among many diseases (stress symptoms) that stress provokes, cancer counts as the second deadliest next to heart diseases. Dr. Waltraut Fryda, a German doctor known for successfully treating cancer patients, is certain that stress is the cause of all cancers since it wears out the adrenal systems, which in turn affect the immune system. With this, it is safer to assume that your stress symptoms could be an early warning of cancer.

Treating Cancer

The most common treatment for cancer that mainstream medicine suggests are surgery, radiation therapy and chemotherapy – the latter being the most sought-after treatment across countries. As with other diseases, we tend to only look at the physiological aspect of cancer. What we always forget is that cancer has psychological and emotional factors that need to be treated as well. Believe it or not, there are many cancer patients who survived the disease without going through chemotherapy and other mainstream treatments. The thing about cancer is that it’s multifactorial, and so the treatment also varies. Getting on top of your psychological and emotional health is just one step towards healing. Furthermore, getting rid of stress symptoms is as vital as dedicating yourself to a treatment.

Six Liberating Ways to Survive Cancer and Deal with Stress Symptoms

1.   Embracing Change

It’s undoubtedly scary to be diagnosed with cancer. After hearing the news for the first time, you may experience all sorts of negative emotions like anger, despair, anxiety or depression. It’s perfectly understandable; however, choosing to live this way isn’t living at all. If you want to begin your journey towards healing, you have to embrace change.

By embracing change, you have to acknowledge the truth about your cancer and must willingly accept all necessary changes that come with it – new lifestyle, new diet regimen, and the things you should do and not do. Embracing change liberates you from fear and empowers you to take over your life. When you do this, your stress symptoms will also diminish. See cancer as a wake-up call rather than the beginning of death, and embrace a new attitude towards life.

2.   Finding Joy

This isn’t a cliché statement. An associate professor of psychiatry and medicine from the University of Pittsburgh, Sandra Levy, said that feeling euphoric gives open access to a molecule called Interleukin-2. It’s a protein in-charge of regulating the activities of the white blood cells, which are responsible for immunity. Also, feeling delighted keeps stress symptoms at bay, which is important. Stress is the last thing you would want to accompany cancer as it can exacerbate it.

Laura Bond, a London-based journalist and the author of “Mum’s NOT Having Chemo,” knows exactly the importance of letting go of things that keep us from having fun in life. Her mum is a survivor of ovarian and uterine cancer and prior to her diagnoses; she was “just going with the motion.” She’d always postpone having fun in lieu of work. Now, she takes time doing the things she likes whether it’s listening to an inspirational talk on her iPod or walking around the garden barefoot. Finding joy in the midst of cancer doesn’t have to be luxurious.

3.   Being a Difficult Patient

While it is good to be meek and obedient to your doctor, asking questions and getting involved in the treatment procedure are far more essential in your healing process. A British scientist and professor, Jane Plant, was diagnosed with breast cancer. She went through radical mastectomy and radiotherapy and chemotherapy treatments, but her cancer kept coming back. When a malignant tumour appeared on her neck, her doctor told her there was little they could do, to which Plant refused to accept. It was then when she started to embark on a research that led to her discovery that dairy was actually the cause of her disease.

4.   Trusting in Your Treatment

Once you have chosen the type of treatment you want, trust in it and have faith that each procedure is a step to healing. Belief is a mental attitude. According to a life coach, Tony Robbins, “Beliefs have the power to create and the power to destroy. Human beings have the awesome ability to take any experience of their lives and create a meaning that disempowers them or one that can literally save their lives.” Furthermore, trusting in your treatment prevents you from getting stressed out and wards off unnecessary stress symptoms.

5.   Letting Go

Mainstream medicine may deny the link between stress and cancer; however, science proves it otherwise. The prolonged presence of adrenalin and cortisol in the body does not only cause more stress symptoms to manifest; it also worsens and makes cancer resistant to treatment. Dr. Leonard Coldwell, an authority on stress-related disease and a top cancer specialist, believes that it is more significant to identify the genesis of cancer than removing the tumour. While the mainstream is popular, other less abrasive but scientifically-proven treatments are now available, so why don’t you let go of that belief that only conventional treatments will work for you?

6.   Raising Up and Taking the Gearstick

In treating cancer as stress symptoms, you have to treat both your mind and body. You cannot move on with a treatment with a weak willpower to live. It is essential that you shift your paradigm and begin to look at cancer as a challenge rather than a threat. While doctors will do their best to treat you with conventional or alternative medicine, it should be you who’s controlling the gearstick of your life.

Great Diet to Manage Stress Symptoms and Cancer

As you may know it, diet plays a very essential role in treating cancer and in managing stress symptoms. Whatever type of treatment you may seek, improving your nutrition is always part of the program. For cancer patients and those who want to prevent cancer, alkaline diet is proven to be beneficial. Alkaline diet simply puts emphasis on fresh vegetables, fruits, legumes, tubers, nuts and roots.
