E-cigarettes or, known amongst teenagers and even younger kids as the “E-Cig”, are fast becoming popular in middle and high schools across the country. It is not an uncommon sight to see these youngsters sneak a “smoke” at the back of the school. This is based on a very wrong misconception. These youngsters wrongly believe that these “E-Cig” are harmless. They have been misled and are entranced by this seemingly harmless vice. They are dead wrong.

Misconceptions about E-cigarettes revealed

For one it is believed that they do not consume any carcinogenic substance. But the truth is the juice “misted” by these E-cigarettes is still nicotine. As a matter of fact, it is nicotine in its almost pure form.  This makes the smoker all the more susceptible to nicotine addiction; an Addiction that will exponentially increase in the future. For regular cigarettes you inhale formaldehyde, pesticide, insecticide and ammonia. For E-cigarettes, you get propylene glycol. This is an active ingredient in anti-freeze, engine coolants, paints, enamels and varnishes. Now, do you still believe that you get lesser chemicals from the e-variety? This is far from the truth.

What is more fearful is that the government regulations for E-cigarettes are not as clear and strict as regular cigarettes. They still have the potential to carry more harmful substances than regular smokes.

E-cigarettes are most definitely harmful

Your typical, regular cigarettes are loaded with nicotine which is the third most addictive substance in the planet, next to (sugar) heroin and cocaine. The two are illegal but the E-cigarettes aren’t. Government regulations have placed warnings on the packs, regulated their sale to adults and even controlled where it can be sold. Unfortunately this is not true for E-cigarettes. Since it is not strictly regulated and still relatively new to the market—access to them is fairly easy. Take a look around. You can see them sold in shopping malls and other open areas that teens frequent.

Nicotine, the primary ingredient in the E-cigarettes, has many detrimental effects to your health. Actually a single drop of pure nicotine can kill a full grown man. In some hunting cultures it is used as a poison. The main problem with the manufacturers of E-cigarettes is that they tout themselves as experts. They espouse and endorse their brand as the “healthier” variety.  There is nothing healthy about ingesting the mist of this poison. The prolonged use of nicotine or nicotinamide at the onset will increase your blood pressure levels. In the long term, it will have serious implications to your heart, lungs and kidneys.

The so-called “safe” E-cigarettes are not as safe as you would think. Do some research; look up natural knowledge and definitely avoid this deceptive product.
