A balanced diet maintains and promote health and can even prove to be the way back to health.

Are you among the significant percentage of people who may describe themselves as reasonably healthy despite not really thriving?

You are not so unwell that you don’t have to stay in bed but you do experience regular ailments, tiredness, lack of energy and occasional mood swings.

Don’t you want to feel spectacular?!  I do and therefore made the choice of feeling and looking young and having many adventures … naturally. It does require a little discipline at first but it is not as hard when it quickly becomes a habit. Taking on the proper nutrition and diet, your body will soon crave good things and be thankful, and so will people around you!

When I changed my lifestyle after a break from my career, I found myself feeling better and trimmer than I ever had before. I feel empowered and know how to take personal responsibility for my health as a result of a noticeable change in my nutrition and diet.

Now I would like to offer you health-promoting actions, including nutrition and diet.

It will make a real and long-term difference to your physical, mental and emotional well-being.

There is a difference between not being sick and being truly healthy.

The four pillars of health summarise the components of a healthy lifestyle:

  • A health-promoting lifestyle
  • A healthy nutrition and diet
  • The use of food supplements where appropriate

SUGGESTIONS FOR A HEALTH-PROMOTING NUTRITION AND DIET.

My nutrition and diet is very much anti-ageing oriented.

I wish to feel young and enjoy life to the fullest both internally and externally and stay away from surgery (of any kind) and this has been quite an obsession from a very young age.

To begin with, here are a few basic easy rules in nutrition and diet, nothing new but well-worth repeating!

  • Eat a wide variety of fruits, vegetables and berries everyday (The now becoming legendary “5 a day” is REALLY a minimum): take advantage of all colors created by mother nature. Think of them as a symphonic orchestra. Together, they will give you a big show (avoid canned versions)
  • Where possible, choose the organic version
  • Avoid all sources of hydrogenated fat
  • Minimise intake of saturated fat
  • Minimise intake of salt
  • Eat a moderate amount of whole grains, beans and pulses daily
  • Avoid sugar, refined carbohydrates; artificial sweeteners such as Aspartame and Aspartame-containing foods (most of diet drinks and food), unless you value weight loss diet over brain and nervous system health
  • Increase your intake of Omega 3
  • Eat a handful of mixed nuts and seeds daily
  • Avoid caffeine
  • Drink alcohol moderately and favour good quality red wines
  • Limit and, if you can, avoid dairy products, which is often a source of allergies, especially with children. Goat and sheep sources of dairies are preferable
  • Limit meat to twice a week. Choose organic skinless white meat is preferable than red meat. Limit cooking time and only eat meat from good quality grass-fed animals.
  • For fish, prefer steamed or not over-cooked ones.
  • Raw food preserves all nutrients and antioxidants. Regularly eat salads and juice, if possible every day.
