Our children are always up and about. They love playing as toddlers, and they still do in grade school. In fact, many of them join in athletic clubs and activities; and we, as parents, would do our best to support our children.

On top of providing them a balanced meal every day, we should also keep them hydrated. The human body relies on hydration for survival. Forming a habit with your children of drinking 6-8 glasses a day is important to maintain body temperature, lubricate joints, remove wastes and keep all body organs, cells and tissues fully functional.

While sports and commercialized hydration drinks are available all the time, you might want to refrain from buying them because the sugar and additives in each bottle aren’t healthy for your kids. You don’t want them to get addicted to sugar, or be exposed to chemicals that can hurt their health. With that, our healthy recipe of the week is a homemade Organic Hydration Drink for Kids.

After exercises and strenuous activities, kids needs carbohydrate for energy, potassium, sodium, and magnesium and  main electrolytes.  Coconut water is a great natural source of electrolytes.

The preparation for this healthy recipe is very easy. All you have to do is to blend all ingredients together in a high-powered blender for one minute. Pour the drinks into separate containers. You may serve a glass or two immediately, or you may store them in the fridge. Your homemade hydration drink will remain good in the fridge for one week. You can make various hydration drink at home using this healthy recipe and modify some of the ingredients.

Healthy Recipe of the Week: How To Keep Your Children Hydrated All The Time

  • Make sure that your children carry water or hydration drink on their way to school and instruct them to keep refilling their bottle each time they finish drinking their liquids.
  • When engaging in active physical activities, instruct them to drink water before and after the activity.
  • It is always advisable to start and end their day with at least a glass of water.
  • The feeling of thirst is oftentimes confused with hunger; so, when they feel hungry, they should drink water first. True hunger won’t be satisfied by water anyway.
