Home-made Pumpkin Spice Latte

You don’t have to go and spend a lot of money for this comforting fall drink! The syrup can even double as a unique topping for ice cream or cupcakes.

For the Syrup:

  • A quarter of a cup pure pumpkin
  • 2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 2 and ½ cups  granulated sugar (choose stevia for a healthier alternative)

For the Latte:

  • 8 ounces whole organic milk (try the non dairy version if you can)

For the garnish:

  • Pumpkin pie spice and whipped cream for garnish

And of course, don’t forget your espresso or brewed coffee!

 

  Preparation: 

In a saucepan over medium heat, dissolve the sugar in 2 cups of water.  Add the pumpkin, pumpkin pie spice and cinnamon sticks.  Simmer uncovered for 5-8 minutes while whisking occasionally. Remove from heat and set aside to cool. Strain twice through a fine-mesh strainer and store in an airtight glass jar.  Refrigerate for a month.

Microwave the milk for a minute or until very hot. Pulse for 20 seconds in a blender for extra frothy mik.

To assemble the   Home-made Pumpkin Spice Latte:

  1. in the bottom of a mug, place 1-2 tablespoons of pumpkin spice syrup.
  2. top with coffee and warm milk (adjust the combination to your liking)
  3. Garnish with whipped cream and dust the top with pumpkin spice.

 Voila, your very own  Home-made Pumpkin Spice Latte!
