Vitamin D 1000iu
High dose cholecalciferol form of Vitamin D3 in vegeterian capsules.
Our Body produces an active form of Vitamin D from the vitamin D we get from food or sunshine. This active “supercharged” vitamin D produces many benefits throughout the body including the prevention of autoimmune diseases and diseases like osteoporosis.
Vitamin D is mainly made by our body exposed to the sunlight and can also be obtained from certain food, including oily fish and egg yolk.
Vitamin D is essential for bones health as it helps use the calcium we get from the diet. Research also demonstrates the importance of vitamin D in protecting against a host of health problems, such as:
- Cardiovascular diseases
- Cognitive impairment in older adults
- Asthma in children
- Weak immune system
- Rheumatoid arthritis.
Unfortunately, most of us do not get enough sun exposure. Even during the summer season, many people are still vitamin D deficient as most of us spend lots of time indoors and, when being outdoors, the increasing use of sunblock prevents their skin from a healthy sun exposure.
Supplementing with Vitamin D3 has certainly proved essential in maintaining good health all year round. Between 600 IU to 1000 IU daily are recommended. Take the advice of your GP and do not miss on Vitamin D3
“The number of medical problems that have now been shown to have been at least affected by, if not actually caused by, a deficiency of vitamin D is amazing. It is as though every organ of the body needs it and without it that part of the body will go wrong, either quickly or slowly… In between, my wife and I take 10,000IU Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays when the sun is not out. When you take vitamin D, it is important to take the D3 form and vitamin K2 150mcg with it. The K2 directs your calcium to be used by your bones instead of depositing it in areas of inflammation and your arteries. That’s really quite important.”
– Dr Patrick Kingsley
NB: Vitamin K2 can be in grass fed organic animal product and fermented food such as nato.
